First Limo Ride

Hopefully Maya won't get too used to this mode of travel! Her first limo ride before age 1 - wow!
We celebrated mom and dad's 40th with a limo ride through the decades, complete with Maya and Taryn's baby seats!

What a face!

Cake anyone?

She was happy to share the aftermath!

Now I get it

It didn't take long to figure that out!

Confused

Not sure what to do with this, but everyone is looking at me with anticipation, so I better do something...

Pink Elephant Party!

We spent a week in July in Ohio to celebrate big stuff in our family: Maya's first birthday, Jodi's 30th birthday and mom and dad's 40th anniversary. We flew in on Jodi's birthday and Maya transitioned from the 3 of us in WA to the 10 of us in OH really well. Of course, she loved watching all of her cousins, especially the one almost her size! She got a little worn out by the trip and all the commotion and nearly slept through her party, but she woke up just in time for cake and was her bouncy, smiley self.
Here she is showing off her pink elephant banana cake!

Exploring the world

Maya never tires of walking while holding our hands, especially if we are outside! Here she is on a beautifully sunny day in Seattle at one of our favorite parks. It's rare to need the sun hat in Seattle, even in the summer, so we make the most of days like this!

Dancing with Daddy

All that dancing at home with Daddy prepared Maya well for the real dance floor!

Meeting Gabe

We celebrated the 4th of July in Milwaukee this year, in honor of our dear friends Troy and Jennie. They were married in a gorgeous spot on Lake Michigan on July 5. We all had a great time celebrating them, and the weekend including some firsts for Maya. She went to the zoo for the first time and loved looking at all the people, although she didn't care much about the zoo. It was her first wedding and she was all smiles for the wedding photographer and on the dance floor. And, it was her (and our) first time meeting Gabe, Drew's childhood friend Wes' son. Here they are, trying to figure each other out!

Getting into trouble

Whenever we open the dishwasher, Maya immediately stops what she is doing and bolts for it. Any chance to play around (or in) the dishwasher is a special treat. I had been telling her "no" when she tried to climb in it, but on this day she climbed in really fast while I had my back turned. I tried to tell her "no" but she just looked so proud of herself, I had to laugh and capture the moment!

Pink Elephant Pose

Maya posed perfectly in her pink elephant towel in preparation for her pink elephant 1st birthday party! This photo ended up being the invitation too!
