The Pennington Girls

We had a wonderful visit with grandma Doris and Maya had a blast exploring her house and playing with all of the great grandkid toys!

Playing at great grandma's

Maya loved the ball popper toy at great grandma's house!

Lois and Maya

Jim and Lois treated all of us to a warm and welcoming place to stay, wonderful cooking and great toys for Maya. She loved playing with the familiar toys of our childhood - the telephone on wheels and Fisher Price little people. We are so grateful for Jim and Lois' love and all the smiles they bring to Maya's face too!

So much fun!

What a great way to spend the day! The backpack is going to be lots of fun this summer!

Hiking with Mommy

Maya really liked these views from the top!

Oh, the trees!

Still drawn to trees, Maya spent a lot of the hike like this - looking up at all the trees and the Colorado sky!

The way up

Beautiful views of the back of the Flatirons on the way up. Daddy is in heaven again - hiking in CO with his baby on his back!

Hiking in CO

We broke the new backpack in with a hike up Bald Mountain, just outside of Boulder. Here are Maya and Drew at the trailhead showing off the mountain lion fighting stick. Mommy insisted on carrying some cougar weapons since one has popped up in a nearby Boulder neighborhood twice in the past few weeks - thank goodness we didn't run into him and we did enjoy our little hike and the beautiful views at the top!

Fathers and daughters

Middle school friends all grown up as dads - Andrew and Drew's daughters had a lot of fun together. It was fun to watch the boys be dads and the girls play! Maya loved watching Laura and dreaming of the day when she can do all the things that Laura can!

Daddy and Maya by the Creek

Daddy savoring his time with Maya in Boulder - he was in heaven!

Ahhh, Boulder!

We found ourselves in our favorite place, Boulder for Memorial Day weekend and we were greeted with a perfectly sunny, warm Colorado day and beautiful views of the Rockies. We spent the weekend visiting the Dillons, Andrew and Lisa, Maya's great grandma Doris and great Uncle Bill - lots of quality time with people who mean so much to us.
Maya gave Drew this backpack carrier as an early Father's Day present and she loved riding in it for our annual trip to the Boulder Creek Festival with Andrew, Lisa and Laura.
Here are the 3 P's enjoying our time by the Boulder Creek!

Reading with mommy

Maya continues to love books - we read together every day and she loves to sit on my lap and turn the pages. Her favorite books right now are: Brown Bear, Where is Mommy?, Blue Hat Green Hat, Tails, What Do You Say? and The Okay Book. The pictures capture her attention and reading books is the one and only time she will sit still!

Spoiled by Aunt Robyn

Aunt Robyn spoils Maya with lots of clothes - a big box addressed to Maya arrived in the mail and she (literally) dove right in!

First sunny day!

We were blessed with an unusually hot and sunny day in May so we took full advantage and celebrated the sun at the sculpture park. Always up for a day spent in the outdoors, Maya was all smiles practicing walking and crawling around in the grass.

Just like Mommy

I think Maya is going to be a tea lover too!

Maya and Daddy at the aquarium

So many colors and textures at the aquarium - it was a feast for all the senses and Maya just loved it!

Exploring the aquarium

My first Mother's Day!

I think Mother's Day is my new favorite holiday! Drew and Maya treated me to a perfect first one. We went to the Seattle aquarium and to Pagliacci's, our favorite pizza spot. And, we did a little bit of shopping at Bellevue Square where I picked out a fun pair of earrings at one of my favorite stores, Fireworks, as a first Mother's Day memento. Maya was a total blast at the Aquarium - she loved all the bright colors, the swimming fish and the playful Otters. I felt truly pampered on this special day, but it is my new favorite holiday simply because I just love being Maya's mommy!

A weekend with Papa

After Aunt Jodi came Papa, who flew in for my birthday weekend and watched Maya while Drew and I went out. We are so lucky to have such a thoughtful Papa! Maya got to spend a day with Papa and she had a blast. He spoiled her with this fun activity cube which quickly became her new favorite toy. She loves moving the beads on the top and using it to stand like she is in this picture. She is pulling up on everything and looks so proud when she is standing! We all had a great visit with Papa, it just went by too fast!  Maya adores him and it is so much fun to watch them together.  Papa has perfected the art of taking great care of little girls after 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters!

Aunt Jodi is funny

Aunt Jodi is a pro at making Maya smile and giggle! We all wish she lived closer to us, but especially Maya!

Preacher Maya

April showered us with visitors - Aunt Jodi followed Memaw's visit. Maya snuggled right up to Aunt Jodi and seemed to recognize and remember her. We had a bit of a hectic weekend because Drew was very ill and we were in and out of doctors offices, but Maya had us all laughing hysterically when she started proselytizing at Cafe Mexico in Seattle. She kept raising one arm and babbling with conviction - it was definitely the highlight of the weekend!
