Maya just can't wait to move - she is trying so hard to crawl and she loves to stand up too.

Maya's special day
On December 1, we celebrated Maya with returning to Point Defiance park in Tacoma, the special place where I told Drew he was going to be a dad exactly one year ago and where we opened the letter from the ultrasound tech to find out that she was a girl!
All bundled up
Maya just loves to be on the go, even when it's cold outside. She and daddy take walks down to the mailbox all bundled up!
All giggles

Mommy and me
I am having so much fun hanging out with Maya these days. I feel blessed to be able to work part time and get at least a little bit of Maya time each day. On work days, we spend the afternoons playing on the floor, listening to Ralph's World, reading books and doing stuff around the house with Maya in the Baby Bjorn. On my day off, we go to mom and baby group and then go out and about since Maya loves to be on the go!

Princess Maya meets Aimee! Aimee drove all the way over from Columbus to meet Maya and it was so great to see her! Next time Maya needs to meet Steve though!!!
DSCN1362
It was next to impossible to get a good shot of Maya and Taryn. But what a cutie that Taryn is and we sure hope they will be great friends someday. Maya has a lot to learn from Taryn, who is crawling all over the place and showing Maya all her big girl 8 month old tricks!

What a beautiful fall day in Memaw and Papa's back yard! This is Mommy's favorite outfit on Maya. It was supposed to be her take home outfit from the hospital but was a little (ok, a lot) too big for her until now! We picked it out in Portland on my birthday so it is very special!

How many grandbabies can fit in Papa's lap? He's the only person who can keep Maya happy while sitting in a lap. He definitely has the special Papa touch.

Maya meets her big cousin Ainsley!
What fun to see Maya with her big cousins Ainsley and Zoe. You can tell by her big smile that she adores 6 year old Ainsley Rae!
Surprise!
Surprise! Maya surprised everyone in Ohio by showing up for Ainsley's safari birthday party weekend. We put her on the doorstep, rang the doorbell and ran. Aunt Robyn was quite surprised to open the door to a (crying) Maya! This picture was taken a few minutes after that!
Maya Bug
First Halloween!
Maya bug was awake in her cute little ladybug costume just long enough to get a few pictures!

Maya meets Carla!
All the way from NYC, Carla became the first VIP to meet Maya!!!
How great to see her after too many years! Thank you for driving all the way down to see us and hanging out with Maya. What a nice visit!
More rocking with Papa
Maya could sit on Papa's lap all day long. She loves to face out and look all around. She says, "Thank you, Papa, for coming to visit me and hanging out with me so much! I love you!"
Rocking with Papa
Papa and Maya in their chair. Maya loves sitting on Papa's lap! She coos at the pumpkin rattle too. She had so much fun with Papa this weekend!
Beautiful day at the pumpkin farm!
A beautiful day at the pumpkin farm! What a fun outing with Papa!
Maya soaks up the sun on the rare occasion that it is out.

Tummy Time
Tummy time is getting more and more fun with Maya holding her head up like this. We do tummy time in the mornings while she is happy. She is also becoming interested in books, which mommy likes! Her favorites right now are "Where is Baby's Belly Button?" and "Five Silly Monkeys." She loves the monkey puppet!
I love my swing!
We think the swing is the best baby invention ever! Maya continues to LOVE her swing. She gets quite a kick out of it lately, smiling and cooing while she is in it even when neither of us are in sight. She always takes her morning nap in her swing and is just as happy as can be!
Fred face
We call this Maya's "Fred face." She definitely has some Brooks in those cheeks! She has a huge Drew dimple on the right side which is becoming more and more prominent. Hopefully I will get a good picture of it sometime soon!
Very serious
Here is one of Maya's intense looks! It's fun to see her personality emerge - she is focusing more on faces and is becoming extremely interested in her surroundings. She is starting to bat at objects hanging above her with her right hand and she moves her arms and legs more when she gets excited. She still loves to look at anything outside too!

Maya, Drew and Grandma Doris
Maya got to meet Grandma Doris and see where she got her eyes! Maya is her 18th great grandchild and Grandma can tell you the names and ages of all of the others! This meeting is what this trip was all about!
The elk bugle!
What a pristine Colorado day! Look closely and you'll see Maya's first elk viewing - they are all around the water. We did a couple of long drives to get Maya to sleep and ran across a herd of elk close to Estes Park. Even got to hear them bugling in the middle of the afternoon! Stopped and fed Maya by this herd - what a great place to feed her!!
Daddy's little girls
The daddy's and their little girls out for a hike - Drew and Maya, Andrew and Laura. Maya loved looking up at her daddy and at the CO sun. Laura is quite the hiker in the leopard print sun hat!
Maya in CO!
Our first stop in CO was the Dillon's gorgeous cabin near Redfeather, just north of Fort Collins. We enjoyed very special time with Lois, Jim, Andrew, Lisa and Laura. Drew and Maya went for her first CO hike and she loved being in the mountains, the sound of the creek and the beautiful golden aspens. And, check out her jeans! She looks so big and grown up!

Sleeping peacefully
This is what we hope Maya will do on her 1st plane ride tomorrow!
We love how she always has her hands up by her mouth - she does this in the Baby Bjorn too. So cute!
Baby Lulu!
Who would have ever thought that Baby Lulu would make it all through 4 Brooks girls???
What fun to have it for Maya!
A button did fall off of it the other day though...very sad!
Ready to conquer the world!
She loves to lay on her back and move her arms and legs all around - this picture really captures her typical smiles!
I love my aunt Darby!
We had so much fun with Darby this past week and Maya really got to know her. She especially liked Darby and Daddy's Roger Rabbit dance moves and Darby and mommy's singing...
What a special visit and how great for Maya to get to know Darby at such a young age!
All smiles
Maya is the happiest in the mornings after eating and she makes the cutest cooing noises. She is still making laughing noises just like her cousin Taryn and she even learned to roll from her tummy to her back when Darby was here!

Maya and mommy in the city
We all had a fun day in Seattle yesterday. Maya LOVES the Baby Bjorn and it is perfect for a day in the city. Here we are at our favorite city park with the Puget Sound behind us.
We went to the market, the park and to Cheesecake Factory for lunch. Maya was quite the conversation piece everywhere we went - strangers always comment on how tiny she is. We think she is up to 9.5 lbs. now though - she is definitely growing and getting a little belly too!
What IS that?
What is that bright light in the sky? I can barely see, they should do away with that, whatever it is. But I just can't stop looking at it...
Maya's first dress!
Here, Maya wears a pretty purple dress with lots of ruffles and a lovely purple bow in back. Hidden beneath are matching purple bloomers. Dresses are all the rage for women of all ages this fall, even popular in the 0-3 month crowd.
And, look at Maya's hair - it's getting lighter and lighter!

Maya's Happy Time
Maya has her "happy time" in the mornings after eating and she is so much fun!
She has been smiling at us intentionally this week, but we think she smiles and laughs more at things like random spots of light on the wall, so our heads aren't getting too big!
She likes to look at Rosebud the soft pink elephant and her monkey keys too.
And, she is making all sorts of laughing and cooing noises - so cute! She still does the one that sounds like Taryn, just trying to be like her big cousin.
I love my mornings with her!

Looking around
Maya loves to be held so that she can see everything going on around her...
She's been wearing Taryn's sun hat now that we actually have some sun!
